The locking mechanism releases slowly to make sure that the Thermomix ® bowl doesn’t open until the contents have stopped rotating. This ensures that no food will escape out of the bowl.
For the same reason, the locking arms open and close one after the other and not both at the same time. Doing it this way makes sure that the lid is secured and released correctly.
